Chicago, Illinois, Location: Chicago, IL Job Description: Job Summary: The To&Through Marketing and Design Intern will be responsible for helping to tell the story of the To&Through Projectâ™s research and data through creative stylization and design. This 10 week paid internship (paid through a stipend) will work directly as part of the To&Through Stories and Engagement Team (SET) to create templates, resources, data visualizations, communication tools, and other visual resources to help tell the story of our work for practitioners and other stakeholders.  Whether the position will take place virtually or remotely is to be determined, though there will most likely be at least some hybrid work (virtual with some in-person). Responsibilities: Support the design of creative and compelling data visualizations to help effectively communicate To&Through Project research and data to educators, practitioners, communities, and other stakeholders. Create visuals and templates for public presentations, our website, and email communication across all of To&Through work streams. Update existing resources and designing other creative resources to improve our communications. Utilize Canva, Adobe InDesign, MailChimp, and Google Suite to create visualizations, templates, and resources. Support with collective To&Through Team Summer Projects such as our Middle Grades Network Summer Institute. Competencies: Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both in oral and written English. Exceptional attention to detail required. Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines required. Strong organizational skills required. Demonstrated ability to take and incorporate feedback. Must be highly motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Interest in developing a more comprehensive understanding of how Chicago students and families are interacting with local public education and higher education systems. Education, Experience, or Certifications: Education: High School Diploma or GED required (This internship is geared towards undergraduate students, though recent graduates and grad students would also be considered). Experience: Experience with graphic design for newspaper, magazine, blog, or other media outlet preferred but not required. Technical Knowledge or Skills: Creativity and a strong eye for design. Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Proficiency with Google Drive Suite (Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Sheets, and Google Forms)and Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint) required. Familiarity with Canva and Adobe In-Design software preferred but not required.
