Job Summary Reporting to the Executive Director, Annual Giving Programs, the Assistant Director of Integrated Marketing Content and Digital Engagement brings Caltech’s strategic fundraising initiatives to life with oversight of a comprehensive content strategy across all annual giving and fundraising campaigns. With intimate knowledge of the tools, vendors, freelancers, and in-house relationships that are crucial to driving coordinated fundraising success for the Caltech Fund, the Assistant Director ensures robust and timely delivery of integrated, multi-channel fundraising campaigns (mail, email, digital, and beyond) that cross engagement, solicitation, and stewardship touchpoints for our audiences. The Assistant Director is key to enabling timely engagement with prospects and donors, including launching new digital marketing channels and techniques, onboarding multichannel communications tools and methods, and utilizing project management software for internal operations and coordination of work. Essential Job Duties Implement comprehensive marketing and communications strategies that help drive revenue growth and donor acquisition, increase esteem for the Caltech Fund, and build visibility with the Fund’s internal and external audiences. Manage multiple communication campaign schedules against hard deadlines with specific audience goals and objectives. Ensure execution and delivery of finished deliverables across multiple channels and formats, including direct mail, email, social media, text, and emerging digital communications channels. Responsible for all content related to core annual giving solicitations and communications. Writes, edits, and proofreads content for all Caltech Fund solicitations and programs. Maintains, and develops comprehensive messaging strategies for the Caltech Fund, including solicitation and stewardship materials. Develops and implements digital engagement tools and strategies. Manages Caltech Fund digital presence, including website strategy and content, social media, and digital advertising strategies. Manages SMS-based text outreach as part of a comprehensive multichannel communications strategy. Responsible for modernization of digital and web analytics platforms, ensuring Caltech Fund is best in class for digital experience management and multichannel marketing strategies. Coordinates with partners in AAR to share calendars, identify messaging opportunities, and amplify core communications and activities. Identifies and recommends new tactics and strategies for using technology to modernize the donor experience for all donors to Caltech. Identify and proactively communicate with colleagues and departments within AAR and across Caltech to identify volunteers, letter signers, content sources, and stories that will engage and inspire Caltech Fund donors. Manage freelancers and outside productivity, including tracking timelines, coordinating deliverables, exercising quality control, and holding freelancers to deadlines. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent. 3 or more years of experience with annual giving, marketing, or communications campaigns. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of Adobe applications, especially Acrobat, Photoshop, and InDesign. Strong organizational and time management skills are crucial. Enthusiasm, passion, and curiosity about higher education development and nonprofit fundraising. Preferred Qualifications Experience in an annual giving department or equivalent nonprofit fundraising environment, especially within higher education. Experience with project management software (such as Asana, Monday, Workfront, Basecamp, or equivalent tools). Experience with printed communications materials, such as direct mail and brochures. Experience with event management and volunteer coordination.
